Back to School with Jar of Love

Hello everybody!
As you probably already know about me, I love to spoil my kids' teachers. As a former classroom teacher myself, I know how much sweet little treats mean to them! I always start with Meet the Teacher. It helps give my girls something to help that awkward first meeting. Sometimes, kids don't know what to say when they are meeting a new adult. If they have a gift in hand, it kind of breaks that ice and prompts the teacher to ask them questions about it. So, we always go to Meet the Teacher with sweets in hand!

This year, I grabbed some of the beautiful blue Ball Jars. We spent the week before school making several kinds of of cookies. We filled the jars with about 5 different kinds! It was fun- my girls love to bake! We also made them for last year's teachers because they LOVE to go by and say hello to them as well as our new principal and those very hard working office attendants!

So, all I needed to do was make a tag. I pulled out my well loved Jar of Love set and went to work.

I used Pool Party for the jar and Melon Mambo for the sentiment. Don't you think "hello" is just perfect!! Sometime I use Happy New Year because, well, it's a new school year!

They went over very well of course! My littlest is in 2nd grade (What!?!?) and she LOVES her teacher. She told me her teacher did a cartwheel on the first day of school and two on Friday! Ha! And with that, she stole my baby's heart! :-) It's going to be a great year!

My middle is in 4th grade and her teacher is a former coworker of mine! We actually taught at the same school before I "retired." She was super happy because this is who she wanted and because "she's very artistic." Ha! You know, cartwheels and art and the most important characteristics for out teachers! ;-)

My oldest is in 8th grade and would NOT carry around a mason jar to her teachers... Hmmm... LOL! Oh well, I snuck one in to her favorite teacher from last year and fill like I fulfilled my duty. I am so happy they are all back in school and have wonderful teachers again! Don't forget to spoil your child's teacher! Those little gift go A LONG way, I promise!!

Have a great day!

Cookie Cutter Halloween Treat Box and my weekend in Michigan with Creating Success

Hello everyone! Wow, what a wonderful weekend I had in Michigan!! My sweet friend and mentor Ronda Wade invited me up to Lansing Michigan to be a guest speaker at her annual Creative Convention. It's a weekend long training for her downline and other SU Demos in the area. Let me tell you- if you are in the area and are a Stampin'' Up Demo, you need this convention in your life! It was so inspiring and fun. And her Rubber Queens are the sweetest most welcoming ladies I've ever met! So, his to all you Michigan (area) ladies!!

If you don't know Ronda Wade, she is a long time (very successful!) Stampin' Up Demo as well as the owner of Creating Success, a business builders training group. Since I started working with her two years ago, my business has gone to new heights I never imagined. Not only is she a wonderful teacher, coach and counselor, she's an even better friend and I think God for her every day! If you are a Stampin' Up Demo and are looking to breath new life into your business, make sure to check her out. You won't be sorry!

So this event was designed for her downline, but has grown to a much larger group than that over the years. There were almost 100 ladies in attendance all weekend!

I presented on Craft Fairs and how to do them successfully.  The ladies in attendance were so open and receptive. They put me at ease immediately! I took hundreds of pictures this weekend (we did like 50 make and takes plus a ton of swaps and displays!!) but I don't have the energy to edit them all today. So, hopefully, I will get to that soon.

I do want to share the treat I brought with me for Ronda, Selene and Carol (also part of Ronda's Creating Success online team.)

I didn't think I would have time to make anything, but at the last minute on Wednesday, I was able to knock them out. I am in such a Halloween mood!! Is it too soon?? Ha!

These guys can hold any kind of candy or treat you want, but I filled them with the 100 calorie chocolate bars I found at my local CVS. I have been told they are also at the Dollar Stores and Walgreens.

I used the precious Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set along with a sentiment from Mr. Funny Bones (both available September 1st!)

I gave him a Pumpkin Pie Glimmer bow tie. Seriously, how cut is he!? This box tutorial can be found in my Cookie Cutter Halloween Class Planner. It is one of the projects we will be making in the Cookie Cutter Halloween Class To Go (see below for all the details.)

One last picture I want to leave you with. I very sweet woman named Donne brought me a gift! She knew I was coming to present and she found this really fun towel that reminded her of me! Pink and pineapples!! Her mother knitted the top. And the bag is so me too! So, Donne, if you are reading this, thank you so much! I really touched me that you thought of me! I will definitely be using this cute thing!

Fancy Friday Blog Hop- Falling Flowers Bundle

Hello everyone! It's time for another round of the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! Don't you just love Blog Hops!
We have a mood board of sorts as inspiration this month.
Fancy, eh? It took me a while to come up with an idea. I struggle with neutral palates, but once I pulled out the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate I was struck with inspiration!

I decided to use the fancy acetate as my card base. I've done this a few times before and it always creates a stunning effect. I pulled out the new Falling Flowers Bundle to recreate the table flower arrangement.

The colors I used were Garden Green, Always Artichoke, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride and Whisper White. I also added some Soft Suede and the hard Wood Background Stamp. I finished the flower arrangement off with the Banners for you stamp set and coordinating Framelits.

I added a piece of Whisper White, the same width as the soft side piece in the front, to the inside. I added a little swirl from the Falling Flowers set in the corner. Love that image!

Oh, and can you see the Copper thread? LOVE it so much too!!

Ok, that's it for me today. I hope you enjoyed my project. Now it's time to hop on along to my friend Connie Collins. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us!

And this set has other spooky Halloween type jars. They all coordinate with the Everyday Jars Thinlits- yahoo! Hope you took my advice earlier in the summer to get these because now you really need them! (Hint- there is a Christmas Jar set too!!!)

So my little mummy is colored with a little bit of Smokey Slate ink and an Aqua Painter. The green background is Cucumber Green washed on a Watercolor Paper oval. I added in a few stamps from Spooky Fun. There is a little bit of Sugarplum Glitter Ribbon (new!) and some Halloween Night Washi Tape (new!). Lastly, the brick paper is from Halloween Night DSP (New!) I really can't wait for you to see this catalog!

Now, these classes and class planners aren;'t ready, so don't email me yet!! LOL! I am making a video to go along with them to show you how to watercolor them. With the kids home, that has been difficult! Maybe tomorrow. I'll announce it when they are ready...
